Dukh Project

Also known as The Spiriters, The Dukes of Doom All of the aforementioned are pop culture references to an above top secret group said to abduct and study citizens of the GAGA who are subject to extreme psi-oriented alterations to their genetic code. It has been long recognized on resource or toxin-heavy planets (like Sasha Wheaton’s homeworld of Dalton) that the pollutants cause mutation in the genetic stock of the inhabitants. Most of the alterations to the inhabitants are prohibitive to life. However, some are born with psionic, psychic and telekinetic abilities, as well as physical qualities, that are … Continue reading Dukh Project

Andrew Pierce

The head of the Department of First Contact (DFC), and Old Earth organization. This holdover from the days when Earth was a separate entity from the rest of the galaxy was created by a group of North American scientists prior to first contact by the Telamer. Andrew Pierce currently runs the organization with a quiet and unassuming dedication to predicting with uncanny accuracy when and where the next GAGA contacts with alien races will occur. Pierce uses the resources of the DFC to map the galaxy with an eye not toward resource utilization but towards the exo-bestiary. He also quietly … Continue reading Andrew Pierce

Department of First Contact (DFC)

An antiquated agency, centered at Vancouver Island, Old Earth, whose original mandate from the UN has never been recalled. It was first made as an intelligence and logistics division of the CIA/NSA complex, to gather scientific data and develop tactics for coping with the sudden influx of alien cultures and races which began to visit and trade with Earth. The DFC was a Canadian invention started by a group of American and Canadian scientists, doctors, astronomers and exo-biologists whose weekend speculations turned into the most accurate body of information on human /alien interaction extant. The DFC, while largely overlooked by … Continue reading Department of First Contact (DFC)

Galactic Armed Forces Starship Classes and Classification System

“Having the classes of ships explained to me was a blur until I was actually taken into orbit and saw them in the shipyard. I had absolutely no reality on the size of them- even the smallest were monsters when seen in a fleet! The SpaceCruisers, described as ‘instant war’ ,were too big to take in even when confronted with them. They were the size of large asteroids or small planets and they were armed to the teeth with weaponry. They even had dozens of lesser ships jammed into them and prepared for deployment. They could take down a rebellion … Continue reading Galactic Armed Forces Starship Classes and Classification System

Gamma Quadrant

The Gamma quadrant is foremost in primary resources, especially mining. Most of the habitable planets in this quadrant were terraformed to one degree or other to make them suitable for human life. Colony ships are sent to these newly terraformed worlds to “work” the planets for the GAGA. Algorithms designed to determine the maximum amount of resources that can be removed before the planet loses viability are applied to each world. The liveability index is then used in fine-tuning the number of original colonists that are sent to each world. Depending on the nature of the resources extracted and the … Continue reading Gamma Quadrant

Alpha Quadrant

The Alpha quadrant is where some of the most expensive realestate in the GAGA can be found. The Telamar planets and Brandenburg both exist in this section of the galaxy, along with Victorinus Wrought’s private asteroid. It is the original home of the GAGA and still home to its headquarters on Telamar V. This planet belongs to the Telamer, the original founders of the GAGA, who later ceded much of their authority to natives of the Beta quadrant- in particular the bipedal inhabitants of Old Earth. Amongst the GAGA inhabitants less schooled in its history there is often confusion about … Continue reading Alpha Quadrant

Wrought Industries

Wrought Industries is the single largest corporation conglomerate in the galaxy. It is so large and its subsidiaries so multitudinous that the GAGA had to develop its own tax code for the company to ensure all available revenues were requisitioned.  Its products include everything from toilet paper to its trademark “Puddin’ Hots”; inter-system missiles to laser cannons and old fashioned bullets. Wrought Industries began as a military supply concern that bought out two old Earth transportation networks and a munitions company. Victorinus Wrought acquired the company with money he earned from re-distributing the rights to his new wife Enora’s motion … Continue reading Wrought Industries

The gun’s breaker blew and the lights turned red. Nothing happened except for a fleeting smell of ozone. Wodin ducked as a bullet whizzed past his head. He stared at the gun in disbelief. He shook it, reset the breaker and waited until the lights turned blinking green. He aimed the gun again at the enemy. “Once again, I bid you- adieu,” he … Continue reading Part Two of An Incident in El Noor Excerpt
